A cooperative effort to restore the traditional Hawaiian breadfruit agroforestry system the covered some 20,000 acres of Kona less than 200 years ago. We grow most of the 27 crops utilized by the Polynesian farmers in a diverse agroforestry system, and partner with world class research institutes such as UH and Stanford to better understand how the system efficiently operates within the landscape. We are also a workers cooperative, exploring how to use modern business structures to better capture traditional social systems of farming based on kinship and cooperation.
